A hotel reservation and a Schiphol hotel massage: two bookings, two sets of cancellation rules
A night at an airport hotel with a session in it rests on two separate agreements. The hotel has its own rules about cancelling the room, and the house has its own scale for the session. They are written by different people for different reasons, and when a flight changes, it pays to know both.
The hotel's rules
Hotels near the terminal sell two broad kinds of rate. A flexible rate can usually be cancelled without charge until a stated hour, often on the day of arrival. A fixed rate is cheaper and cannot be cancelled at all. Whatever you choose, the hotel's terms are between you and the hotel; the house has no part in them and cannot change them.
The house's scale
The session runs on the notice you give. More than twenty-four hours before the booked time, a cancellation returns the whole deposit. Inside the last day, while she has not set out, half the deposit is kept and half comes back. Once she is on her way, the deposit is kept, unless another client takes the hour, in which case it is repaid in full. One move to a date within fourteen days is free when asked for more than a day ahead. The cancellation page sets this out in full.
When the flight moves
A cancelled or delayed flight is a change on your side for the session, not force majeure. Message the thread first: the session scale turns on hours, and every hour of notice counts. Then deal with the hotel and the airline. If the airline puts you up somewhere else, check whether that building is inside the area before asking for the session to follow you.
Matching the two
If your dates are uncertain, a flexible room rate pairs well with the session's free move. Both can be shifted once without cost if you act early. A fixed rate and a session booked for the same night tie you more firmly; that is fine when the trip is settled, and less so when it is not. The page on whether to reserve the room or the session first covers the order of the two reservations.
Real force majeure
If something outside anyone's control makes her journey impossible, such as an official instruction or a transport shutdown, the deposit becomes credit for a later date rather than being kept. That is the house's rule; the hotel's own policy on such events is separate and may differ.
